Elastocalorics

A disruptive cooling and heating technology

Due to the sharp rise in demand for air conditioning systems, the importance of finding and promoting energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional air conditioning technologies is also increasing.

Elastocalorics is a solid-state-based cooling and heating technology that does not require any climate-damaging coolants. It has a significantly high energy efficiency: it is far more efficient than today’s conventional air conditioning technologies.

How the Technolgy works

Elastocalorics is based on the principle of shape memory alloys (SMA).
If a shape memory wire made of nickel-titanium (NiTiNol) is drawn into length and then relaxed again, it heats up and cools down again – temperature differences of up to 40 degrees can be achieved.

The SMA Technology is a sustainable, climate-friendly, and cost-effective alternative suitable for a variety of uses across multiple industries and applications.

Award-winning Technology

Elastocalorics is voted under the Top 10 Emerging Technologies: https://www.weforum.org/publications/top-10-emerging-technologies-2024/

The US Department of Energy and the EU Commission have declared Elastocaloric technology to be the most promising alternative to existing methods.
